It all started ...

Teaching english in Tokyo I decide go back to studying and do what I loved. Doing extramural study from Massey University while still in Japan, allowed me to discover a fusion of ideas which continue to influence my practice today, 17 years down the track.

Founding Through the Garden Gate in 2006, my design approach has grown through the years of experience. I've always had a passion for outdoor spaces and what they can give us. What drives me now is constructing these spaces in ways which draw us into them making them not only beautiful but also functional for our lives. The art of design is working tools and the instinctual need for comfort, beauty and appeal together to create something which meets a need yet takes it further than imaginable - this is what I do.
